Tyrell Malacia was officially presented as a Manchester United player this week, becoming Erik ten Hag’s first signing of the summer.
Malacia signed a deal running to 2026, which United can extend to 2027. The left-back explained he is looking to emulate and even surpass club legend Patrice Evra.
For now, Malacia simply wants to enjoy the moment, and sent a message to Red Devils supporters on social media expressing his happiness at signing for the club.
Timber sends message to Tyrell Malacia
Malacia, 22, is heading to United to compete for a first team place, and is looking forward to the next chapter of his career.
After posting to Instagram, Malacia received dozens of congratulatory messages from former teammates, and among them, was his Netherlands international colleague Jurrien Timber.
Timber had an opportunity to sign with Manchester United this summer too, before being scared off by Louis van Gaal warning him his international prospects could take a hit.

As we noted last week, Timber should have shown more self-belief and backed himself to be a success, in the same way Malacia has.
Malacia has three fewer international caps than Timber, making his international debut after him. Van Gaal’s warning applies to him too.
And yet, the left-back is undeterred, and has taken the opportunity Manchester United have presented him.
We wonder if Timber is having any self-doubt or regret about not being so bold too.
