ESPN journalist Julien Laurens has provided an injury update on Manchester United defender Raphael Varane.
The 29-year-old came off injured in yesterday’s 1-1 draw against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on the hour mark.
United’s number 19 was trying to tackle Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, but he fell to the ground and stayed on the deck, which indicated the worst.
As his United teammates and the club’s physios tried to console him, the former Real Madrid was visibly upset and concerned by the nature of his injury.

With the World Cup in Qatar starting in four weeks time, Varane was clearly worried about whether the injury he sustained in west London would rule him out of the tournament in the Middle East.
Varane played a starring role in helping Didier Deschamps’ Les Bleus side win the competition in Russia 2018, and he will be desperate to prove his fitness and play a key role in his nation’s attempt to win back-to-back World Cups.
Julien Laurens provides injury update on Raphael Varane
Posting an update on Twitter, Laurens said: “I’m told Raphaël Varane suffered a lesion on his femoral biceps which is less serious than thought originally. He should be out between 3 to 4 weeks & sees the MRI results as positive.
“He won’t play for United before the WC & then Deschamps will have to make a call on him.”
Erik ten Hag’s side have six games before the domestic season pauses for the World Cup.

Judging by Laurens’ update, Varane isn’t going to feature for United before the World Cup, and Deschamps faces a big call of whether to include the influential four-time Champions League winner in his 26-man squad.
France’s first World Cup match against Australia takes place in 30 days time.
With Varane out injured for the Reds, Victor Lindelof, who replaced the Frenchman at Chelsea, will likely come into the side and partner Lisandro Martinez at centre-back.
Manchester United legend Paul Scholes has expressed his concern about the number of injuries Varane has picked up since making the switch to Old Trafford from the Spanish capital last summer.
