Juan Mata has given his reaction to Manchester United’s 1-0 win over Fulham at Craven Cottage.

Bruno Fernandes scored the decisive goal with a superb piece of individual brilliance after good work from Facundo Pellistri in the build-up on the right side.

Antony, once again, struggled when given his customary start for the Red Devils and the Brazilian should have been taken off sooner than he was.

Fernandes, who has struggled this season, had his moment of glory as his beautiful side step away from the sliding Fulham defenders led to his shot into the bottom corner.

Mata’s reaction

As mentioned, ex-Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata, who formed a good relationship with the former Sporting Lisbon man, has given his reaction to the Portuguese’s brilliance.

Writing on his Instagram, Mata said: “Professional, committed, humble, hard-working, talented, decisive, leader, respectful and imperfect just like the rest of us. Always in my team.”

It’s hard to disagree with the Spaniard who was marvelling over the midfielder’s performance and this felt like a true captain’s performance from the experienced United man.

Despite the reception he was receiving from the Craven Cottage crowd, the midfielder stood up for himself and produced the goods for Erik ten Hag.

Fernandes’ moment

When trying to define a captain of United, Bryan Robson or Roy Keane will usually come to mind when trying to name iconic leaders at Old Trafford.

Captains of the club would be players who were willing to stand up and be counted, but Fernandes has not always convinced.

However, his shimmy and his calm finish rescued United, he really did stand up for his teammates and produced a match-winning moment, something that has been desperately lacking this season.

The midfielder has struggled to find his best form this season but moments like that can only help the former Sporting man.
