Manchester United are pushing to agree a move to sign Chelsea and England midfielder Mason Mount.
Mason Mount is expected to be Manchester United’s first summer signing, once an agreement is finally tied up with the Blues.
The midfielder will provide a combination of work rate and craft to Manchester United’s midfield, and he is looking for a new challenge.
Mount impressed United boss Erik ten Hag during his time on loan in the Netherlands with Vitesse Arnhem. He has also managed to catch the eye of former manager Jose Mourinho too.

Jose Mourinho on Mason Mount
Jose Mourinho has spoken highly of the midfield ace, praising his attributes and explaining why he views him as such a top player.
He told The Times: “I think he is very, very intelligent on the pitch. From what I see, he has a very good understanding of the game.
“He has goals, which is an important thing for a midfield player. I like him very much.”
Mourinho went on to add: “He is an attack-minded player, a creative player, but he has the tactical discipline.”
These comments lay out just why Erik ten Hag is interested in bringing him to Manchester United, and how he can help United’s midfield.
Aside from Bruno Fernandes, United did not have a midfielder who scored into double figures last season. Mount did this at Chelsea in 2021/22.
Ten Hag puts a lot of focus tactically into the way United play, and having a player with Mount’s ‘intelligence’ will benefit the team.
Mount has agreed personal terms with the Red Devils, Fabrizio Romano reports, with United keen to get the deal tied up in time for pre-season.
While there are suggestions United could turn to other options, claim The Guardian, this is a deal we expect the club to complete.
