Jose Mourinho has left Fenerbahce after just one season at the Turkish club.
The new season is underway, and we are already discussing managers being sacked while others are under mounting pressure.
Manchester United are included in that after a slow start to the 2025/26 campaign.
From losing against Arsenal and drawing with Fulham, United were hit with a new embarrassing low on Wednesday night as they lost on penalties against Grimsby Town in the Carabao Cup second round.
These results have led to uncertainty at Old Trafford. There is no denying that pressure is building on Ruben Amorim as head coach, with United fans feeling his post-game comments after Grimsby were a sign he was contemplating resignation.
Meanwhile, former United managers elsewhere are having a tough time, with two losing their jobs in the past 12 hours.

Jose Mourinho leaves Fenerbahce
Jose Mourinho was appointed as Fenerbahce manager in 2024 and oversaw a second-place finish in his only Turkish Super Lig campaign.
Fenerbahce finished 11 points behind champions Galatasaray, but they were also eliminated from the Turkish Cup at the quarter-final stage and crashed out of the Europa League in the Round of 16 after losing to Rangers.
However, Mourinho managed just two league games in the new season before his exit was announced.
Earlier this week, Fenerbahce missed out on a spot in the Champions League after a playoff defeat to Benfica. That means the Turkish outfit will be competing in the Europa League this season, but they won’t have Mourinho sitting in the dugout.
That proved to be the final nail in the coffin for Mourinho at Fenerbahce. His availability will now become an issue for other managers working in Europe.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Mourinho sacked within 12 hours
The Turkish Super Lig could boast about having two former United managers last season.
Now, after 12 chaotic hours, they have none.
Following a Europa League Conference defeat to Swiss club Lausanne, Besiktas parted ways with Solskjaer.
It remains to be seen if Mourinho and Solskjaer want a quick return to work.
After leaving United in 2021, Solskjaer did not take another managerial job until he arrived at Besiktas in January 2025.
Mourinho’s dismissal came 12 hours after Solskjaer was sacked at Besiktas.
