John Terry says Alejandro Garnacho is ‘petrifying’ after what he has seen at Chelsea

Alejandro Garnacho has had a rollercoaster start to his career at Chelsea after leaving Manchester United in the summer.

Towards the end of last season, Alejandro Garnacho criticised Ruben Amorim and was bluntly told to find a new club in the summer.

Manchester United moved quickly on from the Carrington graduate and replaced him by signing Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha. Both have made brilliant starts at Old Trafford.

Garnacho is showing signs of maturity at Chelsea after throwing his toys out at United, but his first few months in London have still not been a major success.

Garnacho struggled for minutes towards the start of the season, and he had to wait until this weekend to play his first full 90-minute Premier League match for the Blues.

John Terry praises Alejandro Garnacho’s Chelsea impact

There is no denying that Alejandro Garnacho’s best performance in a Chelsea shirt came in their 3-0 win over Wolves.

Garnacho has been doing extra training to try and work his way into Enzo Maresca’s plans, and he played the full match against Wolves, picking up two assists.

After the full-time whistle, Chelsea legend John Terry liked what he saw from the £40 million summer signing.

Via The Metro, Terry said: “I also want to touch on how good Garnacho was yesterday.

“Absolutely petrifying as a defender when you’re facing someone that quick and that direct. He gives us something the other wingers don’t as well.

“That’s what you want to see as a Chelsea fan players like that beating players. It doesn’t always have to be with loads of skill.”

It has become a frustrating trend at United that players who leave often go on to thrive, but Garnacho has certainly not put himself in that category yet.

In fact, United fans will be happy to see Garnacho leave and be replaced by Mbeumo and Cunha.

But Garnacho’s good form at Chelsea can also be good news for United, because there is a 10% sell-on clause in Garnacho’s sale. It means United are set to profit if he is sold on for a big fee.

It has been suggested that Chelsea could look to sell Garnacho for a profit. It has been a strategy often used by the London club in recent years.
