Manchester United have confirmed the appointment of David Harrison as the new Director of Football Operations.
Harrison had the same role at Everton, who he will leave at the end of February and move into his new role at United.
United’s Football Director John Murtough also used to work for the Toffees, and Harrison will report directly to him at Carrington.
Murtough has spoken to the club’s official website about the new hire, who replaces Alan Dawson, who has spent 11 years in the role.

John Murtough comments as Manchester United appoint David Harrison
Murtough said: “David is known as one of the most able and respected operators in football and we are delighted that he has chosen to join Manchester United.
“He will bring deep experience and knowledge to this important role, and add further strength to the support structure we are building around our football teams, to give our players and staff the best chance of success.”
“Everyone at Manchester United would like to thank Alan for his huge contribution to the club and wish him well for the next chapter in his career.”
The post on the club website says that Harrison worked in United’s ticket office in the 1990s, before his move to Goodison Park.
The Athletic report that Harrison was involved in Everton’s transfer business, although it is fair to say that has not been perfect in recent seasons.
They also say he oversaw a number of first-team operations, including the day-to-day planning and organisation of how things ran at their Finch Farm training ground.
United have made a number of structural hires behind the scenes in recent years as they try and keep moving in the right direction under Erik ten Hag.
Last summer’s transfer window ended well but did run smoothly throughout and the key for United is to make sure future markets are far more straight-forward and efficient.
