Academy prospect Joe Hugill has been pictured training with Manchester United first team ahead of the Omonia Nicosia game on Thursday night.

The talented 18-year-old is yet to feature for the club’s academy sides this season, but the former Sunderland youngster was seen training alongside Erik ten Hag’s first team stars at Carrington yesterday.

The Red Devils face Cypriot side Omonia, who are managed by former Celtic manager Neil Lennon, at Old Trafford on Thursday night.

Ten Hag’s side beat Omonia 3-2 in Cyprus last week, and the former Ajax manager will be targeting a third straight win across all competitions after responding to the 6-3 mauling at the hands of Manchester City last Sunday.

Hugill, who joined the twenty-time league champions from the Black Cats in October 2020, was part of Travis Binnion’s FA Youth Cup winning side last season.

From 31 games across all competitions last season, Hugill scored 15 goals and laid on three assists.

Since making the move to the North West, Hugill has scored 31 goals from 58 games for the United youth sides.

Like Alejandro Garancho and Charlie McNeil, Hugill will no doubt be dreaming and targeting making his senior Manchester United debut.

As well as Hugill, a raft of Manchester United’s talented youngsters also took part in yesterday’s training session at Carrington.

Anthony Martial wasn’t pictured training after suffering a back injury in the 2-1 win against Everton at Goodison Park on Sunday night.

The Frenchman was replaced by Cristiano Ronaldo who scored the winner, which was his 700th club goal of his career.

Harry Maguire, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Donny van de Beek were also not pictured taking part in yesterday’s training session.
