Jesse Lingard was once Manchester United’s most impactful player; however, his footballing career has never quite reached those same heights.

After breaking through under Louis van Gaal, Jesse Lingard quickly found a home in the first team, with a handful of very memorable moments, such as his FA Cup final goal in 2016.

The recency of Carrington’s 206th graduate is shown as Lingard scored in Manchester United’s last away win to Arsenal prior to last weekend’s 3-2 win at the Emirates.

It was this game when Lingard did his famous dance at the Emirates, making a fool of Arsene Wenger’s side. Matheus Cunha then danced himself last weekend in a repeat of history.

Now, Lingard is in the news with a new club being lined up.

Jesse Lingard in talks over Serie A move

In December, after two years with FC Seoul, Lingard announced he would be departing the South Korean club.

Lingard had some excellent moments in Korea; however, his exit left questions over where he might end up.

Now, according to the Daily Mail, Lingard is close to finding a new club.

The report explains that the 33-year-old has talked with a number of British clubs, including Premier League outfits.

However, it is understood that Lingard is instead in advanced talks over a move to Serie A.

The club isn’t named, but we cannot imagine he will be wanted by clubs toward the top of the Italian league.

Lingard at 33 would still have a lot to give, and could shine in Italy, but as usual, it will all depend on his current frame of mind, and whether he is back to compete or for a final paycheck.

Where Jesse Lingard has played since leaving Manchester United

Lingard left United in 2022, feeling frustrated as he had almost been left behind by the squad under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, and had no future with Erik ten Hag’s arrival.

Lingard joined Nottingham Forest as a free agent after being released, surprisingly not returning to West Ham, where he was so excellent on loan the previous year.

After one underwhelming campaign with Forest ending in 2023, Lingard was without a club for six months.

He was a free agent until February 2024, when Seoul took a chance on him, and they didn’t look back as he scored 19 and assisted 10 in 67 games.

Now, a new challenge is in store for Lingard and it will be encouraging to see how he fares.
