Manchester United academy graduate Jesse Lingard opened his goalscoring account for Brazilian club Corinthians in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
It was announced last month that Jesse Lingard signed with Corinthians, meaning he has linked up with former Manchester United teammate Memphis Depay in Brazil.
Lingard has endured a tough start with Corinthians with the 33-year-old not winning any of his first four league matches with his new side.
However, Corinthians beat Barra 1-0 in the Copa Do Brasil on Wednesday morning courtesy of Jesse Lingard’s first goal for the club.

Lingard opened his goalscoring account for Corinthians with a right-footed volley when the ball fell to him in the box.
As pointed out by Corinthians’ goal post on X, it makes Lingard the first British player to score in the history of the Copa Do Brasil.
The Copa Do Brasil is the equivalent to England’s FA Cup – a competition that includes 126 teams competing from across all divisions in Brazil.
Lingard won the FA Cup for United by scoring a late winner against Crystal Palace in 2016.

Lingard spent 20 years of his life representing United, starting from eight years old up until he left the club in 2022.
A failed loan move to Nottingham Forest harmed his chances of playing for another Premier League club, so Lingard moved to Korean side FC Seoul in 2024.

Lingard was named Player of the Year at Seoul in 2025, but he then announced his departure to begin a new chapter in 2026.
Currently, Lingard only has a contract with Corinthians until the end of the 2026 season.
