James Garner sends message after returning to Manchester United for pre-season
Manchester United welcomed back a large group of players to Erik ten Hag’s pre-season training on Monday, with the internationals returning.
These included England under-21 international James Garner, who was back at Carrington for the first time since last August.
After a successful loan spell at Nottingham Forest, Garner has returned to fight for a place in Manchester United’s midfield, and he was keen to express his happiness at his return.
United players happy to be back for a new start
James Garner was not the only Red Devils player to express his happiness at returning to Carrington.
Several stars sent messages out on social media after their first training sessions under Erik ten Hag.
These included Bruno Fernandes, Fred, Anthony Elanga, and club captain Harry Maguire, who all pointed to a fresh start.
Garner looking to impress Ten Hag
James Garner played a key role in helping Nottingham Forest win promotion, and while they would happily take him back if they could, Manchester United want to keep him.
The whole point of going on loan was to gain experience and come back to Manchester United as a better player, and Garner has a chance to showcase his improvement.
It actually helps to have a new manager and a completely fresh start, and with a busy schedule with Premier League and Europa League games, Garner should get first team action.
The first opportunity will come in pre-season, with Garner expected to go on tour. He played and scored on United’s last pre-season trip to Australia, and he will be confident he can make an even bigger impression this time around.
