Sancho set to return

Jadon Sancho could make Manchester United’s match day squad for the first time since October 22.

He has been out since with fitness problems, training individually, and then returning to the first team sessions a fortnight ago.

He could be on the bench or in the starting line-up for the second leg. Erik ten Hag may look to ease him in as a substitute.

If he is brought off the bench, he can expect a very positive reception from the Old Trafford crowd.

Speaking at a press conference in midweek, Erik ten Hag said Sancho and Anthony Martial could make their returns.

He said: “I think tomorrow that Anthony Martial and Jadon Sancho will return in the game squad.”

Jadon started the season brightly under Ten Hag, scoring three goals. His form then trailed off and a lack of fitness also saw him miss out on England’s World Cup squad.

Now after a longer than expected recovery, he looks set to make a comeback. With a potential place in the team at Wembley a month away, and a two legged tie against Barcelona, Sancho has plenty of motivation to get back to his best.
