Jadon Sancho is still the right player for Manchester United despite Champions League bust
The Telegraph reported this week that United are eyeing a summer move for Jadon Sancho.
Sancho, 18, has shone for Borussia Dortmund since quitting Manchester City in 2017.
Already an England international, Sancho looks a special player.
This week in the Champions League he struggled, up against a tough Tottenham defence.
Spurs successfully shut out Sancho for the second game in succession, and it could have done United a favour.
The money being floated around regarding Sancho has been getting crazy already.
The games against Spurs just pump the brakes a little on the Sancho hype train, and it’s helpful for all concerned.
£100 million might be fair value if United sign Sancho and he stars as an Old Trafford regular for the next 10 years.
It’s still a lot of money, and if he had scored a hat-trick to inspire Dortmund to a win over Tottenham, it would have got even crazier.
United could break their transfer record to sign a player this summer, but it won’t be by much. Don’t expect the Red Devils to pay fees of around £150 million on one player.
Sancho has nine goals and 11 assists this season, and could well be the right winger United have lacked for years.
His Champions League dud doesn’t change that, but it does keep his price tag in check, and keeps the possibility of a summer deal alive.
