Jack Butland has sent a message as he leaves Manchester United with his move to Rangers now officially announced.

Jack Butland has put pen to paper on a move to Rangers with his Manchester United loan expiring.

Butland’s contract at Crystal Palace comes to an end on June 30 and he will become a free agent.

Rangers have announced Butland’s transfer, unveiling him signing a deal on a pre-contract agreement.

Jack Butland to Rangers confirmed

Jack Butland spoke to the Rangers website, commenting: “I feel great and motivated at the age that I am, and I feel excited at what the future holds. Doing that at a club that is equally as passionate about winning and being at the top was huge for me.”

There had been claimed via the Scottish Sun that Manchester United could try to hijack the move and tempt Butland into a permanent back-up role at Old Trafford.

But the 30-year-old has opted for first team football with Rangers, rather than being third choice at United.

He has signed a four-year contract, which is also surely longer than any offer he might have received from the Red Devils.

Butland did not play a single game for Manchester United during his loan spell, although was on the bench for the FA Cup final.

Commenting on his time at Manchester United, Butland said it was disappointing to end on a losing note but he was thrilled to play a part for his boyhood club.

He wrote on Instagram: “It was short and sweet, but an unreal experience being with the team I’ve supported since a young boy. The staff, players, fans & everyone involved with the club are another level.

“Disappointing to end the season like we did but this team is going places once again & everyone should be excited. Thank you @manchesterunited 🤝🏻”

Butland also said goodbye to Crystal Palace, pending the end of his contract there.

He wrote on Instagram: “I would like to thank everybody at @cpfc for making my time in South London so enjoyable and the fans for the support we were given everywhere we went. I made friends and memories i won’t forget and i wish you nothing but the best moving forward! 🤝🏻”
