Victor Lindelof has taken to Instagram to give his goodbye message to David de Gea.

The Spanish goalkeeper will forever be remembered as a United legend. De Gea was an integral part of the side for 12 years, featuring over 500 times, keeping 190 clean sheets and making a bucketload of insane saves.

He’s almost become part of the furniture at Old Trafford now, which is why so many are sad to see him go. Despite this – Erik ten Hag proves once again why he’s the right man for the job, being ruthless in the market and not rewarding mediocrity, which is something United have been guilty of in the past.

Understandably, de Gea’s teammates are gutted about his departure. One in particular Victor Lindelof, whos been playing with Dave for some time now.

Victor Lindelof’s farewell to David De Gea

The Swedish centre-half took to Instagram to post ‘It’s been an honour,’ alongside a photo of the two embracing each other on the Old Trafford turf.

Although a majority of the squad are relatively new faces, these two go way back. Lindelof joined United back in 2017, so has had six whole years of friendship-building with De Gea.

It is sad when you think of it like that. You don’t see the social relationships these players build with each other, so although it’s gut-wrenching to see some players leave from a fan’s perspective – it’s 100 times worse for a player.

Phil Jones also gives his goodbyes

A player that knew Dave for even longer than Lindelof was, Phil Jone, who also took to Instagram to say his farewell wishes.

Nice words from Phil, who played with De Gea since his arrival in 2011.

Jones himself has left United this past summer, having arrived at Old Trafford a year later than the Spaniards.

The duo were the last remaining members of the 2012/13 title winning side left at United. Now it’s time to look forward.
