Is Godin the player Lindelof needs to become a Manchester United great?

Manchester United have long been linked with a new centre-back.
Among those is Atletico Madrid’s Diego Godin, with TMW claiming an offer has been made to the Uruguay legend.
While Godin is said to have rejected that proposal, United would be wise to return with another offer. After all, the 32-year-old is the ideal partner for Victor Lindelof.
The Swedish international has been one of United’s most improved players this season. After a great World Cup, Lindelof is now one of the first names on the team sheet at Old Trafford.
However, playing alongside someone like Godin would only improve the 24-year-old.

As a ball-playing defender with the confidence to stride forward, Lindelof is integral to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s style. Yet he still has a lot to learn, and there are few better teachers than Godin.
He could form an immediate impressive partnership with Lindelof and teach him the dark arts of defending. In fact, Godin’s influence could turn the Swede into a defensive great at United.
It remains to be seen if United can seal a deal for the Atletico man, but it could be a defining moment for both him and the young heir to his throne.
