Bruno Fernandes has made a big impression at Manchester United since he joined.
His impact on the team’s performances has been huge, and individually he has scored three goals and provided our assists already.
He left behind a big impact at Sporting too, where WhoScored.com have him rated still as the highest performing player in the Primeira Liga this season.
His spell at Sampdoria is rarely discussed, with Fernandes spending a solitary season at the club in 2016/17, scoring only five goals. He then signed with Sporting, where he really hit it off.
He did leave a positive impression in Italy though, with his former Sampdoria teammate Milan Skriniar impressed by him.
During a Q&A on social media as reported by Noticias, Skriniar picked Fernandes out as his best ever teammate.
He said: “I can’t choose one here at Inter, because they are all quality players. In Sampdoria I would say Bruno Fernandes, who is now at Manchester United. I always liked him.”
While this was partly a diplomatic answer so not to to upset or divide his Inter pals, Skriniar picked Fernandes because he believes it.
Fernandes was only 21 when Sampdoria signed him from Udinese. He was still a raw talent, but showed flashes of ability.
It was at Sporting where he really put it together, and started producing in a decisive matter at an astoundingly consistent rate.
Now at Manchester United he is continuing this and we feel lucky to have him after seeing the team struggle without him over the first half of the campaign.
Skriniar’s comments reflect so much of the praise United’s players have showered on Fernandes already.
If you asked the United squad who the best player they have ever played with is, you wonder how many of them would say Fernandes already. That’s the sort of impact he has had.
