Manchester United are now moving in for Dougie Freedman with Crystal Palace braced for an approach in the coming days.
Ineos have only recently taken control at Old Trafford but they are making big moves.
Manchester City’s Omar Berrada has agreed to become the club’s new chief executive and he will soon be joined by further arrivals.
Dan Ashworth should become United’s sporting director if a deal can be thrashed out with Newcastle United.
Southampton’s Jason Wilcox is a target too, and United now appear to have made a decision on a top head of recruitment target…
Crystal Palace braced for Dougie Freedman move
The Independent now report that United have identified Crystal Palace’s Dougie Freedman as the man to become head of recruitment under Ashworth.
It’s stated that the Eagles are now braced for an official approach in the coming days with United seemingly making a real push to secure Freedman.
Ineos are understood to consider Freedman to be the ‘ideal candidate’ for the job having been impressed with his work at Palace.
Freedman has been linked with United for months and it looks like Ineos are now ready to make their move.
Reports in November even suggested that Freedman had the backing of Sir Alex Ferguson as United considered appointing him.
Ferguson may now get his wish with Freedman seemingly lined up to join United’s new-look structure ahead of the summer transfer window.

Who Freedman has signed
Freedman did have a managerial career with Crystal Palace, Bolton Wanderers and Nottingham Forest before becoming Palace’s sporting director in 2017.
The Scot has been vital to Palace establishing themselves as a Premier League club and some of his deals have been hugely impressive.
Marc Guehi and Joachim Andersen were both signed by Freedman and have become one of the top centre back pairings in the Premier League.
Cheick Doucoure is a quality defensive midfielder on his day and Freedman was vital to bringing Conor Gallagher on loan to Palace in 2021.
Then we come to Eberechi Eze and Michael Olise, Palace’s two exceptional playmakers.
Freedman’s knowledge of the EFL allowed Palace to swoop in and land both Eze and Olise, turning them into top Premier League stars.
United fans would no doubt love players like that at Old Trafford and Ineos seemingly believe that Freedman can find a few more gems yet.
