Cunha has been out of the starting XI for both of Man Utd’s superb displays against Arsenal and Manchester City since Michael Carrick’s appointment as interim boss.
Rooney has admitted that he has admired how Cunha has conducted himself in the United first-team squad after being used as a key substitute under Carrick.
“But where I’ve been really impressed with Cunha over the last two games is, of course, he’ll be disappointed to be on the bench in the two games, but he’s come on and made a difference in both games and he got the assist for Dorgu in the City game and then a great goal today,” he continued.
“So, he’s come on and showed a great attitude in terms of not starting the game, but come on and try and help the team and he’s done that in the best possible way today.”

“Bruno does really well just before that, just as I think he has a bad touch when he does well to just get the ball back to him to Dorgu.
“And then it’s such a great, great finish. I thought the ref was going to look at handball, but it showed it come off his hip. I think it looks like it come off.
“Nah, what a goal, unbelievable.”
Dorgu has started on the left flank in the matches against Man City and Arsenal under Man Utd interim head coach Carrick ahead of summer signing Cunha.
