Ian Wright has come out swinging with a stanch defence of Marcus Rashford.
The Manchester United forward admitted he was ready for a new challenge earlier this week, leading to further speculation over his future.
Marcus Rashford, 27, has endured two difficult seasons since recording his best tally of 30 goals across all competitions. Ruben Amorim has pledged to help the England international who seems to have seemingly decided to move on from his boyhood club.
The United academy graduate has been dropped from the last two matchday squads under Amorim, who is picking players based on training.
Unhappy United fans revealed a banner with a dig at Rashford during a 4-3 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur in the Carabao Cup. This was the biggest hint yet that the United faithful has lost patience with the under-fire forward.

Ian Wright defends Marcus Rashford’s wish for new challenge
There was a heated discussion on The Overlap podcast regarding Rashford’s suitability for a team like Arsenal.
Wright believes Rashford, who hasn’t given Amorim a chance, is capable of doing amazing things under the right manager.
In the comments section of an Instagram post of The Overlap’s recent episode, Wright added more context to his argument with Jamie Carragher, who was dismissive of Rashford.
Wright wrote: “I got to Arsenal at 28, but you expect ME to write off someone with the ability Marcus has at 27!!!!
“So many of you are desperate to see these young people fail so that you can say you were right! You would take 1% of the career Marcus has had!”

Wright scored 182 goals in 283 Arsenal appearances, which is a fantastic record for a player who joined the club at the age of 28. It doesn’t change the fact that Rashford represents a great risk for any interested club.
That will soon become a question of whether Rashford is worth that risk.
Ravel Morrison offers transfer advice to Marcus Rashford
Once upon a time, Ravel Morrison was one of the most exciting prospects in United’s academy. His career didn’t turn out as many hoped.
To the surprise of United fans, Morrison would later reveal that he is an Arsenal fan – detaching himself further away from United, the club that gave him a chance to become one of the best footballers in the world. A chance that went wasted and his behavioural issues didn’t help.
However, Morrison was quick to reply to Wright’s comment on Instagram by urging the Arsenal legend to convince Rashford to switch Old Trafford for The Emirates.
Morrison replied: “Get him to Arsenal!! @wrightyofficial”

Gary Neville has already warned Manchester United against selling Rashford to a domestic rival. The former right-back doesn’t want to club to regret selling an academy graduate only to see him excel at another Premier League club.
United must weigh up whether they think Rashford has lost his appetite for football.
