Arsenal legend Ian Wright has dropped a telling verdict on Alejandro Garnacho after the “highly confident” Manchester United star’s performance against West Ham on Sunday.
Manchester United sealed a 3-0 win over West Ham at Old Trafford, with Erik ten Hag’s men securing three vital Premier League points in the race for the top four.
Alejandro Garnacho played a starring role for United in their Premier League clash against the Hammers, with the Argentina winger scoring a superb second-half brace.
The 19-year-old winger, who is often deployed out on the left, started out on the right flank for the West Ham match in support of United striker Rasmus Hojlund.
Ten Hag has struggled this season to find an effective option for a right winger, with Antony underwhelming at times and Jadon Sancho falling out with the United boss.
Garnacho has impressed out on the right wing this season after he scored twice in United’s 3-2 comeback win against Aston Villa at Old Trafford in December 2023.

Wright sends warning about Garnacho
Speaking on Premier League Productions, Ian Wright insisted that Manchester United star Alejandro Garnacho can do the “same thing all the time” on the pitch.
The Arsenal legend claimed that Garnacho is either trying to take people on or he is trying to take shots when there are better chances to pass it to a teammate.
“A lot of people saying about his impact when he does come off, but I do find that when he is playing, then he does the same thing all the time,” he said (via Stretty News).
“He is trying to take people on. He is having shots when sometimes I think he could pass it.
“But, in this instance, West Ham, they have given Man United so much time and so much space. So many mistakes.
“Maybe he should show him down the line. When he does come back, then you have to defend that and wipe that shot off. He then gets his deflection and he has got his bit of luck. At the same time, they made it quite easy for him.
“In respect of Garnacho, he is somebody that is highly confident, great pace and an eye for goal.
“With the structure of Man United now, they look like quite a dangerous prospect.”
Ten Hag happy with Garnacho so far
Despite Wright’s criticism of Garnacho, United manager Ten Hag appears happy with the United winger’s progress since his emergence in the Red Devils’ first team.
Garnacho has already outlined his goalscoring target before the season is out, with the Argentina winger also praising United teammate Kobbie Mainoo over his impact.
Ten Hag has admitted that the future is bright for United after pointing to the potential of Red Devils trio Mainoo, Garnacho and Hojlund.
“The future for Manchester United is very good because we have high potentials,” he said after the West Ham match.
“They are together and want to play football with adventure and enjoyment. If we keep this process going, I am sure we will achieve high levels.
“We are building a team, we signed young players, and we give them opportunities.
“This is a process with ups and downs and we have to realise this. Our experienced players will help them and we need them and they will help the young players perform.”
