Manchester United star Antony says he refuses to stop showcasing his skills after a ridiculous amount of criticism he received following the game with Sheriff Tiraspol.
Antony did his trademark 360 spin move twice, before misplacing a pass. Then the football punditry world blew up.
Robbie Savage droned on during commentary labelling it ’embarrassing’, while Paul Scholes compared Antony to a ‘clown’, speaking to BT Sport at full-time.
Sky Sports then chimed in this morning, wheeling out former Blackpool boss Ian Holloway, who said Antony needed to ‘grow up’.
The sheer amount of attention Antony’s skill has received has been quite bizarre, and while controversy sells – it feels like he is being targeted for criticism.
The Brazilian winger has vowed not to let it affect him with a defiant message on social media.

Writing on his Instagram story reel, Antony vows to continue the Brazilian tradition of showcasing his skills.
He wrote: “We are known for our art and I won’t stop doing what got me where I am!”
This is what we want to hear. Antony should have the extravagant elements to his game ‘knocked out of him’, as Paul Scholes suggested should happen.
It would be like taking the aggression out of Eric Cantona or Roy Keane’s game. If you take the flair out of Antony, then he just isn’t the same player.
Our message to Antony is, keep on spinning, especially if it makes the pundits get mad. Fans want to be entertained, and Antony is one of the most exciting players we have seen at Old Trafford for years.
