Sekou Kone has made his first appearance for Lausanne-Sport after the Manchester United midfielder signed for the Ineos-owned Swiss Super League outfit on loan for the remainder of the season.
After joining Manchester United in August 2024 as a highly-rated midfield prospect, Sekou Kone was put straight into the academy.
Although Kone played in the post-season tour of Asia at the end of the 2025/26 campaign, the 20-year-old has yet to make his competitive debut for the senior team.
Will Sekou Kone earn a Manchester United first-team chance while at Lausanne?
What would he have to do in order to guarantee his place next season?
United felt Kone would benefit from playing senior football at a lower level; therefore, he joined Lausanne-Sport on loan until the end of the season.
It’s an opportunity for the Malian midfielder to gain experience and prove himself in the Swiss Super League.
United will be paying close attention to Kone throughout his temporary spell in Switzerland.

Man Utd loanee Sekou Kone makes Lausanne debut
Kone has been impressing Lausanne coaches since completing his loan switch.
The young midfielder was named on the bench for Lausanne’s 5-1 away defeat to Thun, but he wasn’t the only United loanee who was a substitute.
Enzo Kana-Biyik came on after 72 minutes, but the game was lost at this stage, so it was difficult for the young forward to make a difference.
However, in the 80th minute, Kone came off the bench to make his senior debut for Lausanne.
Kone only had 10 minutes on the pitch and Lausanne suffered a heavy defeat, but at least the United youngster has his first senior appearance under his belt.
The next step is working his way into the Lausanne starting line-up.
Kone will need to keep impressing the coaches to achieve that.
Prove me wrong… Sekou Kone will end up being a brilliant signing for Manchester United
