Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag is said to be ‘enthused’ about the imminent takeover of Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Ienos at Old Trafford.
Erik ten Hag has certainly had to deal with a lot of off-field issues since he was appointed manager of Manchester United in the summer of 2022.
Despite this, things seem to be getting better at Old Trafford after the news over the weekend of the imminent 25 per cent acquisition of the club by Sir Jim Ratcliffe.
According to a report from the Daily Mail, Ten Hag is said to be fully on board with the 70-year-old’s plan to shake things up behind the scenes at Old Trafford.
Ten Hag’s reaction
The report states that the Dutchman is excited about the possibility of working under Ratcliffe after INEOS’ proven track record in other sports such as cycling, which the Dutchman is reportedly a big fan of.
Ten Hag has reportedly shown signs in private of frustration with the board, the data side of the club and the overspending in the transfer market.
Ratcliffe himself, when speaking to The Times, labelled United’s transfer business as spending ‘dumb’ money, so it seems the pair are on the same page in this aspect.
It’s unclear whether the pair have spoken yet but the report states there is a pre-existing relationship between the two.
This was established due to Ratcliffe’s ownership of OGC Nice and the pair also reportedly bumped into each other in March when the 70-year-old was being shown around Carrington.
Ten Hag backing
The report also goes on to say that Ratcliffe is keen to back the 53-year-old but the setup around the former Ajax boss is set to change.
With there already being signs of the pair being on the same page, this can only be a huge positive for United.
The hope will be that Ten Hag and Ratcliffe get on well as the pillar to any successful football club is fostering good relations and if the pair do exactly that, this could be a very exciting time for United and indeed the fans.
