“He will…”: MOTD pundits are in agreement on £64m star who exudes lots of ‘positives’

Danny Murphy and Gary Lineker were both in agreement over one Manchester United man against Burnley yesterday.

That man is Rasmus Hojlund – who arrived from Atlanta in the summer for a whopping £64m. This was a risk for United. A number nine was essential in the summer, but when the Danish forward was the one chosen – it left a lot of people slightly worried.

A hefty fee for an unproven 20-year-old was a worry for some. Many thought it was foolish to go for a developing forward, rather than a finished article like Harry Kane.

But after just a few appearances, he’s slowly proving the doubters wrong. He was particularly impressive against Burnley.

MOTD pundits on Rasmus Hojlund

On Match of the Day after the fixture, they spoke about Hojlund’s impact on the game despite not scoring.

“He will score goals”, claims Lineker to begin with, before Murphy takes over with some more in-depth analysis.

“I think the goal in midweek will do him the world of good,” he begins. “Today although he didn’t score he got in the positions I always think a striker should be in. And on another day he will get the goals because he keeps making good runs.

“The rest of his game is also pretty good as well. So a lot of positives today for Manchester United. Nice and strong as we saw earlier, he likes putting himself about.

They then went on to analyse some clips of the Danish striker, where he got into some excellent positions.

“But I think you’re right – he will score goals,” Murphy concludes.

A great start

A fabulous start to life as a Red Devil for Hojlund. We definitely look like a better team with him.

It’s nice to finally have a focal point on the side, which also allows other players to lock down other positions.

He’ll be a tremendous asset for United going forward.
