Former Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp has told Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim that one factor at Old Trafford will be completely out of his control.
Ruben Amorim is Manchester United’s sixth permanent manager since the legendary Sir Alex Ferguson retired from management at the end of the 2012-13 season.
The 40-year-old United manager left Sporting CP last November and replaced former Red Devils boss Erik ten Hag in the Old Trafford for the remainder of the season.
Erik ten Hag’s reign as United manager came to a crashing halt last October after the Red Devils sacked the former Ajax boss amid a poor start to the campaign.
Ruud van Nistelrooy, who was assistant manager under Ten Hag at United, briefly took over as interim boss after his Dutch compatriot was axed by the club.
Amorim has faced an uphill struggle in turning around United’s disappointing Premier League campaign, with the Red Devils languishing in 13th place in the table.
However, the ex-Sporting CP boss has seen success in United’s European campaign and the Red Devils are through to the quarter-finals of the Europa League.

Harry Redknapp drops a Sir Alex Ferguson-based compliment for one of Ruben Amorim’s Man Utd stars
Speaking in a clip on Dodge Woodall’s TikTok account, Harry Redknapp insisted that Ruben Amorim faces a “massive rebuild” of the Manchester United first-team squad.
Amorim is expected to begin the major overhaul of the United squad he inherited from Erik ten Hag in the summer if the Red Devils can find the finances for it.
Redknapp was deeply critical of the state of the United first team, but the Tottenham boss did praise Red Devils skipper Bruno Fernandes for his impact.
Bruno Fernandes has been arguably United’s best signing in the post-Sir Alex Ferguson and the 30-year-old United captain has been a key first-team player.
Redknapp claimed that the United and Portugal midfielder would be the only player under Amorim right now who would make a squad under former manager Ferguson.
“Their players are not good enough,” he said.
“I don’t care who comes in… if you look at Man United, how many of that team there would have got into one of Fergie’s teams?
“Fernandes would have got in the squad, yeah. He would have got in the squad. He wouldn’t have got into the team because he’s not better than [Paul] Scholes or [Roy] Keane or he’d be the only one.
“And so, whoever comes in there, the boy there now has got a massive rebuild job. How’s he gonna turn it around? You can’t. It’s gonna take years and years and years.”
Harry Redknapp sends clear message to Ruben Amorim over Man Utd and transfer market
Redknapp argued that United will struggle to bolster their squad with high-profile signings in the market due to the lack of availability of star-studded names.
Speaking on United and transfers, he continued: “And where are the players? So, you see people keep saying Arsenal should have bought a striker, [but] where? Who? Who’s about? Show me one.
“Harry Kane, yeah, maybe they should try to get him. Would he have gone to Arsenal? You can’t get [Erling] Haaland. Where are you going to find a striker?
“You know, there ain’t none about. It’s alright saying go buy some player, go and buy… where are all the great players?
“Where are suddenly Man United gonna get them from? Are Barcelona going to sell two or three? No.
“Real Madrid, where are you going to get these players? Where are they?”
United return to action after the March international break and the Red Devils will face Nottingham Forest at City Ground on 1st April in the Premier League.
