As one of Manchester United’s most experienced players, Harry Maguire has revealed what surprises young players most when they come into the team.
Harry Maguire earned a new contract at Manchester United this season and will remain at Old Trafford for at least one more year.
United will have an option to extend Maguire’s contract by a further year, should he remain an important figure in the starting line-up.
Maguire is one of the leaders in the dressing room, and the England international takes that in his stride by being a good influence around young players.

HOW will Harry Maguire be remembered at Manchester United?💥
Harry Maguire opens up on competitiveness in Man Utd training
United had several academy prospects train with the first team this season.
Ruben Amorim and Michael Carrick made use of players from the youth team to help United’s first team prepare for games. That included starlets such as JJ Gabriel, Jim Thwaites, as well as academy graduate Shea Lacey.
Without naming names, Maguire has revealed what United academy players often find ‘crazy’ when they are introduced to first-team training.
“The main thing I felt is the competitiveness of training is just totally different level,” Maguire told the Lifejacket podcast.
“I still speak to some of the boys who come through Manchester United now and they come and train, 17-year-olds come and train with us and I and ask them like what’s the difference and they just say it’s just totally different competitiveness.
“It’s crazy that like we play every day in training, but if you lose you’re not happy. You go home sulking.”
Carrick has hinted at playing youth players against Brighton in the final game of the season.
That’s potentially good news for Lacey, who has yet to make a senior appearance under Carrick.

Harry Maguire waits on England call
After a strong end to the season, Maguire is in contention to make Thomas Tuchel’s England squad for the 2026 World Cup.
Maguire was one of Carrick’s most consistent performers at United this season, after serving Amorim previously in a questionable back-three system.
Tuchel is set to announce his 26-man squad for the World Cup on Friday.
Maguire will be sitting by his phone waiting for Tuchel’s call. The same applies to Kobbie Mainoo, Marcus Rashford, Mason Mount and Luke Shaw.
