Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has not enjoyed the kind of season he wanted after taking the armband on a full-time basis.

This season has been a struggle for Manchester United, who have now lost 12 games in all competitions.

It has been a horrendous run, and while manager Erik ten Hag is getting his share of the criticism, captain Bruno Fernandes is too.

Fernandes was poor in Manchester United’s defeat to Bayern Munich, and ended up getting shown up by their star striker Harry Kane.

Harry Kane matches Fernandes’ Old Trafford assists

Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane provided the assist for Kingsley Coman’s winner as the German side won the game 1-0.

This now means Harry Kane has the same number of assists at Old Trafford this season as Bruno Fernandes does.

The difference is Bruno Fernandes plays for Manchester United and has played 13 matches in all competitions at Old Trafford so far this campaign.

Fernandes’ one home assist came back in August in the 3-2 victory against Nottingham Forest.

Bruno Fernandes’ season in numbers

Bruno Fernandes has scored five goals this season, and he is the team’s second highest scorer, with Scott McTominay one ahead with six.

Fernandes does have five assists in total, with four coming away from home. That away record is strong, especially considering United’s difficulties on the road.

But there’s evidently something not quite right in front of goal, with United struggling to break teams down.

Often it is not from a lack of trying on Fernandes’ part. In the win at home to Chelsea he created five chances.

Last night against Bayern nothing went right. He created only one chance, while Manchester United had just one shot on target.

He won’t be in action this weekend due to the suspension set to keep him out against Liverpool.

A break may do him good. Manchester United’s next home game is against in-form Aston Villa on Boxing Day.

Let’s see a few home assists from Fernandes, so he can pull ahead of Kane for goals created at Old Trafford for the season.
