Hannibal Mejbri scored his first goal for Manchester United despite the Red Devils suffering a 3-1 defeat against Brighton & Hove Albion at Old Trafford.

It was United’s first defeat at Old Trafford since the 2-1 reversal at home against the Seagulls at the beginning of last season.

One player, Hannibal, stood out more than most despite the midfielder coming off the bench with 25 minutes to go at two goals down.

The Tunisian midfielder, who joined the club at just 16 years of age from AS Monaco, has certainly made his impression from the bench, which is what Erik ten Hag has been asking from the young midfielder.

Mejbri’s Instagram reaction

The midfielder was certainly emotional if his Instagram post is anything to go by as it was his first goal for the Red Devils.

“Years of work went into that moment to score a goal for this incredible club,” Mejbri wrote on his Instagram page. ” (It was) Impossible to enjoy it without the team getting the result we wanted.”

The midfielder added some much-needed dynamism to a rather lacklustre midfielder that was being overrun time and time again.

Should Hannibal start more

There is an argument to be made that both Hannibal and Uruguayan winger Facundo Pellistri did enough to be in Ten Hag’s thinking for the Bayern Munich clash.

Mejbri, certainly, added that dynamism and energy that a midfield needs, if Ten Hag persists with the formation of a diamond midfield.

Whether the youngster will be thrown in at the deep end against the Bundesliga champions remains to be seen as it may well be a step too far for the youngster.

However, the next Premier League game for United is an away trip to Burnley and you wonder if the Dutch manager would risk chucking in the youngster for the clash following his impressive cameo Yesterday.
