Graham Potter hails Christian Eriksen ahead of Manchester United v Brighton

Brighton manager Graham Potter has conducted his pre-match press conference ahead of Sunday’s match with Manchester United.

Potter’s last meeting with the Red Devils was when Ralf Rangnick was in charge and United’s season went from bad to worse with a 4-0 defeat the Amex Stadium.

Since then, Erik ten Hag has taken over as manager and brought in Christian Eriksen as one of three summer signings so far.

Ahead of the game at Old Trafford, Potter has paid tribute to Eriksen, who was sensational at Brentford in the second half of last season.

Potter speaks out before United v Brighton

Potter said of Eriksen: “He’s a top player, you can see the influence he had on Brentford.

“His quality is undeniable. I’m sure he will do well at Manchester United.

“Hopefully we can delay that, but he’s a great player.”

Ten Hag said when he faced the media that Eriksen and other new-boys Lisandro Martinez and Tyrell Malacia are fit to start against Brighton.

Eriksen is a proven Premier League performer and someone who can help the United midfield get much more comfortable on the ball than they were last season.

It remains to be seen how him and Bruno Fernandes fit into the same midfield, and they are yet to start a game together in a red shirt.

Potter’s Brighton also dominated the first half of last season’s clash at Old Trafford, before a Lewis Dunk red card allowed United to gain control of the game.

Tomorrow’s game will prove a real test for Ten Hag, who needs to get his reign off to a flying start.
