Manchester United welcome West Ham to Old Trafford on Sunday, just three days after booking a place in the Europa League final.

Ruben Amorim has two weeks to prepare Manchester United to face Tottenham in the Europa League final, which means his side has two league games left – against West Ham and Chelsea — to play before then.

United go into the game against West Ham after beating Athletic Club 4-1 at Old Trafford on Thursday night, when Mason Mount came off the bench to score two brilliant goals, settling the tie and sending Athletic Club fans back home unhappy.

Amorim has indicated that he will not take any risks over his players’ fitness between now and the final, meaning that the team could be rotated heavily this weekend.

Meanwhile, West Ham are 17th in the table, two places below United.

Graham Potter previews Manchester United clash

Although West Ham are 17th with three games left to play, the Hammers are already safe, so there’s only pride to play for this weekend.

At Old Trafford for the second last time this season, Amorim’s side have a chance to put on a show for United fans, which they deserve after a turbulent campaign.

Potter, who became West Ham boss mid-season, believes Amorim took a ‘tough job’ in November when he became United head coach.

The former Brighton and Chelsea manager stressed that the club and fans deserve credit for supporting him during the difficult period.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference, Potter said: “It’s a tough job to go in when he did. I think the club’s in a position where there’s a lot of change, and credit to the club and the fans for supporting him.

“They’re in the Europa League final, so there’s a chance to finish well.”

Potter doesn’t know what to expect from Man Utd

If United fans are unsure what the team will produce from one week to another, an opposing manager is going to have an even trickier job.

Potter doesn’t know where United will field their strongest XI or rotate on Sunday, but he stresses that it is always ‘complicated’ at Old Trafford.

“We have no idea how Manchester United will approach the game,” he added. “It’s always complicated at Old Trafford, but we have to focus on ourselves and try to get the three points.

“We want to try and win and it doesn’t matter about the opponent.”
