There are fresh reports this morning that Real Madrid will offer £60m for David De Gea. What’s more, the Spanish keeper will tell the club he really wants to go.
Surely if Jordan Pickford can go for £30m then £60m seems a bit on the cheap side, particularly as that was the price they were asking for a player they wanted to sell not too long ago. There is the suggestion that United would ask for either Bale or Morata and even some reports that if Mourinho sanctioned the sale, he would be happy with the goalkeepers already at the club. Considering that Gianluigi Donnarumma, a Raiola client, of course, just renewed his contract at Milan, we wonder if that may have anything to do with it, though to be honest, we were far happier at the idea that we might get the Italian keeper for nothing off De Gea decided to go. The story has been around long enough that it obviously means something and Real do like to splash big every year.
In other news, Bakayoko of Monaco is in England after his club agreed a deal with Chelsea. But the defensive midfielder is clearly on the troll, setting his location as Manchester and tweeting red and white dots with love hearts. It appears to be some elaborate plot for Chelsea to look like they’ve got one over on United (and Bakayoko has since deleted the tweet, but we saved it for you to see here) as he was tweeting with Chelsea forward Michy Batshuayi last night.
Of course, the red and white will mean Monaco when he has signed, but it all appears a bit of a smokescreen to give the transfer a bigger profile than it has. We’ll be honest, we would have liked Bakayoko at United, but considering that was what UnitedInFocus wanted and not necessarily what Jose Mourinho wanted, we’ll let him off. We’re not sure we’re happy with the £40m fee Chelsea have spent being recouped by our offer for Matic but that’s another story.
