Manchester United came up short in the derby with Manchester City at the weekend, delivering an error-strewn performance.
Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City bounced back from two consecutive defeats to record a 3-0 win over Manchester United at the weekend.
One of the impact players in their victory was debutant goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, who pulled off an impressive save to deny a volley from the impressive Bryan Mbeumo.
Following the derby, Paul Scholes blasted United for failing to sign Donnarumma, questioning the Red Devils’ recruitment policy.
It’s not just United’s incomings that have been questioned. It’s the outgoings too, and two former United players are on Donnarumma’s radar.

Donnarumma wary of Napoli duo
Napoli are in action in the Champions League against Manchester City this week, with Manchester United loanee Rasmus Hojlund in action.
Speaking ahead of the September 18 fixture, Donnarumma singled out Hojlund and Scott McTominay as two players he is worried about.
Donnarumma told TMW: “In the Champions League, you always have to give something extra. For me, one of the most dangerous is McTominay, but I’m also thinking about Hojlund.
“I saw their last league match against Fiorentina. They have strong wingers and make important passes. We’ll have to be alert and focused throughout the match because they have pace and instincts.”
Hojlund scored on his debut for Napoli against Fiorentina at the weekend, and the Italian media has praised the way he has quickly won over new boss Antonio Conte.
Hojlund meanwhile credits Conte for helping him to settle so quickly at the club, and the positive vibes will continue if Napoli can win at The Etihad.
Scott McTominay transformed
Scott McTominay has become a major success since Manchester United sold him to Napoli last summer, with Antonio Conte unleashing the attacking side of his game.
McTominay has even been nominated for the Ballon D’Or, having helped Napoli to win the Serie A title last season.
The former Manchester United academy talent has won the hearts of Napoli fans, and forged a fearsome reputation.
Donnarumma’s comments underline McTominay’s growth
