Manchester United striker Rasmus Hojlund scored his first goal for the club in a dramatic Champions League game against Bayern Munich.
Erik ten Hag‘s Manchester United left Germany with no points, but not quite with ‘nothing’. The team’s spirited second half performance gave some cause for optimism, especially as new signing Rasmus Hojlund scored his first goal for the club.
Hojlund took his goal well after being set up by Marcus Rashford. It was a great confidence booster for the 20-year-old, to score his first for the club on the biggest stage.
The Dane’s performance was also noted in Germany, placing a spotlight on Bayern defender Kim Min-Jae, a summer signing from Napoli.

Kim Min-Jae criticised
Rasmus Hojlund took his goal well and gave his side hope, before a controversial VAR decision gave Bayern a penalty and extended the home side’s advantage.
German outlet Sport1 criticised Bayern defender Kim Min-Jae for his defending against Manchester United’s £64 million man.
The outlet gave his performance a low grade, noting that the first time he was really challenged, United scored, noting: “He was a bit too passive against goalscorer Hojlund.”
Konrad Laimer, selected at right-back, was also called out for his contribution on both sides of the ball.
Sport1 wrote: “Initially with problems against the fast Rashford. Just let him go before the assist for Hojlund shortly after the break. On his side there was always freedom to move forward, but overall he didn’t do enough with it.”
Jamal Musiala was the standout, getting the outlet’s top mark for his mesmeric performance which caused United constant problems, and his assist for Bayern’s second goal was described as ‘sensational’.
Different kind of challenge up next for Hojlund
A different test lies ahead for Rasmus Hojlund when Manchester United go up against Burnley this weekend.
His goal against Bayern will give him real confidence. If he can score against Bayern, Burnley will hold no fear. A first Premier League goal is only a matter of time.
