Gary Neville has been discussing Manchester United’s potential new addition and admitted he beliefs it could end mediocrity at Old Trafford.
The Ineos revolution at Manchester United is underway and after the appointment of Omar Berrada to CEO in January, it now appears that a sporting director is next.
After countless options were discussed in recent months, it now seems that Sir Jim Ratcliffe could get his preferred choice in Dan Ashworth.
Ashworth currently works for Newcastle United but the lure of United is said to be too much and he’s keen on making the move.
But with that move now seemingly nailed on, Gary Neville has shared his verdict on the potential new United man.

Gary Neville gives verdict on Dan Ashworth’s arrival at Manchester United
Speaking on the latest episode of the Stick to Football podcast, Neville was discussing what he makes of the new footballing structure at Old Trafford.
“I’m not saying that he’s going to go into Manchester United and be successful but if you’ve got the guy in from City which obviously they have now, you brought Dan Ashworth in, at least you’ve got people in roles that belong. In the last 10 years, there haven’t been people in roles that belong, so there’s a start of something.
“Look there’s disruption there’s interference with the mediocrity that we’ve seen in the last 10 years already if he comes in I do think there’s a chance that you know you’ve got that sort of performance mentality that excellence mentality that they do have that could run through the club quite quickly.
“I’ve no doubt no Jim Ratcliffe is obviously trusting in Dave Brailsford, to say look you know basically we need the best CEO the best sporting director the best head of Recruitment and the best coach. The two that have got yet to be sorted are the head of Recruitment and Coach but they’re doing it one by one obviously aren’t they, you know if Dan comes he’ll want I suspect authority at the club to be able to make decisions.”
Ashworth could be about to revolutionise Manchester United
Ashworth arriving at United could be absolutely huge for United and the entire culture of the club could be about to change.
As sporting director, Ashworth will turn this club into an elite sporting team off the field like we used to be.
Excellence off the pitch will inevitably lead to excellence on the pitch which that culture being translated across the entire club.
This is an incredibly exciting move from United and one which could leave United very well placed to become successful once more.
