Gary Neville says ‘fantastic’ Man Utd star was ‘sulking’ on Sunday

Gary Neville believes that Marcus Rashford was ‘sulking’ as Manchester United were beaten by Manchester City on Sunday.

United were comfortably beaten in the latest Manchester derby as Erik ten Hag suffered another chastening afternoon.

Erling Haaland’s double had given City a comfortable lead before Phil Foden added number three.

United just couldn’t lay a glove on City, managing only three shots on target against Pep Guardiola’s side.

This was a fairly lifeless United performance and a number of players have been receiving criticism.

Gary Neville claims Marcus Rashford ‘sulking’ amid Manchester United defeat

Gary Neville wasn’t happy with United’s display but also felt that some players were showing pretty negative body language.

Antony was one such case with Neville noting that he was shaking his head after Alejandro Garnacho was brought on instead of him.

Then there was Marcus Rashford, who suffered another frustrating outing in what is becoming a very disappointing campaign.

Rashford has scored just once in the Premier League this term and looked downbeat after being substituted.

Neville has now stated on The Gary Neville Podcast that he hated watching the last 10 minutes of Sunday’s game because of the general body language from United players.

One of them was Rashford, who Neville believes was ‘sulking’ as he left the pitch with United 3-0 down.

“The last 10 minutes, I hated what I saw in the last 10 minutes out on this football pitch,” said Neville. “Marcus Rashford, to be fair, a fantastic player, he looks like he’s sulking on the way off, Antony’s shaking his head on the bench,” he added.

Rashford regression is a real problem for Erik ten Hag

Rashford seemed to be absolutely back to his best last season, hitting 17 Premier League goals as well as five assists.

Ten Hag looked to be bringing Rashford back to the level we all know he can reach and he deservedly earned huge plaudits.

This season has been tough though and Rashford’s struggles leave United in a difficult spot going forward.

Bruno Fernandes is always a goal threat but can’t be United’s leading source of goals whilst Rasmus Hojlund is still adjusting to Premier League life.

Jadon Sancho isn’t in the picture, Antony has struggled for goals and Garnacho is only a kid.

United aren’t blessed with goalscoring options right now and Rashford was supposed to kick on again this season as United’s biggest goal threat.

That just isn’t happening right now and Ten Hag must get the bottom of this dip in form.
