Gary Neville relying on David Beckham for risky birthday present, it will likely be Manchester United themed

Manchester United have lost a lot of winning mentality since the days of Sir Alex Ferguson and his fledgling Class of 92.

The current state of affairs at Manchester United makes for grim reading. It doesn’t help that it’s been a disastrous season with the Reds positioned 15th in the Premier League standings.

Since becoming co-owner of the club, Sir Jim Ratcliffe is trying to overhaul recruitment policies at United. This has led to Ineos introducing multiple cost-cutting strategies.

To make matters worse for United fans, Manchester United Supporters’ Trust has issued a warning about a potential season ticket price hike and the unnecessary damage it would cause to the club’s loyal support.

Ruben Amroim was appointed United head coach in November after succeeding Erik ten Hag, who cost a heavy sum to sack earlier this summer. It wasn’t long before Dan Ashworth was sent his marching orders as sporting director – just five months after arriving at Old Trafford.

All of that money adds up. Essentially, it makes it more difficult for Ineos to rebuild the inadequate squad inherited by Amorim.

Gary Neville reveals David Beckham birthday promise

Gary Neville thinks his former Manchester United teammate David Beckham is “sorting” his tattoo for his 50th birthday.

The former United captain, who turned 50 on Tuesday, celebrated his birthday on the famous Stick to Football podcast along with Jill Scott, Ian Wright and Roy Keane.

It may make some of our readers feel old, thinking about a member of the Class of 92 turning 50, but that’s where we are… yet few look as fresh as Beckham (49).

Beckham, a style icon and accomplished footballer, boasts a collection of tattoos across his body. He’s arguably the first person Neville would seek advice from ahead of his first-ever tattoo.

On the latest episode of Stick to Football podcast, Neville read out his bucket list for his milestone year, which included attending Glastonbury.

Neville said he would eventually “get a tattoo” before being pushed on what kind.

He added: “I don’t know, I think Becks (David) is getting the tattoo for my birthday, I think, because he’s a specialist in tattoos (isn’t) he?”

Gary Neville considers Manchester United tattoo

Lots of United fans have United-related tattoos – from Munich memorials to portraits of club legends.

Neville also revealed that he is considering a tattoo on his arm, which could feature “writing” or the “united England thing” which includes a devil, a nod to the Reds, and a lion, referencing the Three Lions.

Such a tattoo would represent Neville’s career as a one-club man, unlike Beckham, who also started his professional career at United.

Beckham went on to play for a series of clubs, including Real Madrid and AC Milan.
