Gary Neville reacts to reports Marcus Rashford is considering Manchester United future

Gary Neville has responded to the news that has broke this morning which is Marcus Rashford is considering his Manchester United future.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano dropped the bombshell the day after Manchester United were mauled at the Etihad Stadium by our fierce rivals Manchester City.

Although Cristiano Ronaldo and Edinson Cavani weren’t available for the trip to face Pep Guardiola’s side, Ralf Rangnick opted to play without a recognised striker, starting Rashford on the bench.

If you put yourself in Rashford’s shoes it’s hard not to be disillusioned by his omission, but at the same time his performances haven’t been good enough this season.

The 24-year-old has only started nine Premier League games this season, two of which have come in the last 11 top-flight matches.

Despite United being depleted in the forward areas, Rashford remains on the periphery, which Romano claims has led the England international to being concerned and bemused with his role within the team, due to a lack of playing time.

Neville who laid into United for their “spiritless” second half showing in yesterday’s 4-1 hammering has responded to the Rashford news on Twitter.

The club’s former right-back has always spoken openly about how he despises the leaks that come from within the United camp and this is the latest in a constant theme which continues to be prevalent in that United dressing room.

United’s number 10 is currently out-of-favour under interim boss Rangnick and Anthony Elanga and Jadon Sancho look to be the favoured options on the wings.

The German will move upstairs at the end of the season and take up a two-year consultancy role.

The Reds will hopefully have a new permanent manager appointed by then and Rashford just like the rest of the Manchester United squad will face an anxious wait to see whether they fit in the plans.

Marcus Rashford’s contract does expire at the end of next season, but the Red Devils do have the option of triggering a one-year extension.
