Cristiano Ronaldo struck his 24th goal of the season to help Manchester United to a 3-0 win over Brentford.

The goal came from the penalty spot after he won it himself, and former Red Devils star Gary Neville labelled him his Man of the Match.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Neville named Ronaldo as his choice, commenting: “[He had] a goal, the build up to the penalty, his all round performance has been outstanding.

“He is still a phenomenon, at the age of 37.”

Ronaldo had a goal disallowed in the first half too, somewhat harshly, and had a couple of penalty appeals turned down.

United won the game 3-0, with Bruno Fernandes and Raphael Varane scoring the goals either side of Ronaldo’s penalty.

Neille added: “Ralf Rangnick will have enjoyed that a lot more.”

18 of Ronaldo’s 24 goals have come in the Premier League, with six in the Champions League.

United gave final Old Trafford appearances to Juan Mata, Edinson Cavani and Nemanja Matic, along with Phil Jones.

Ronaldo still has another year left on his United deal, with an option for a third year, and if he carries on playing like this, the club will be taking it, and signing him up for a few more.

At his age, to still be scoring at the rate he is, shows his enduring quality, and he can be proud of his contribution this season, even though it has been a disappointing one overall.

United have two more away matches remaining, against Brighton, and Crystal Palace.
