Manchester United fans had very little to celebrate at Old Trafford in the final match of 2025.

A 1-1 draw against Wolves is not the way Ruben Amorim would have liked to end the calendar year.

Manchester United will enter 2026 sitting sixth in the Premier League table, but it could have been so much more if the Red Devils took their opportunities at Old Trafford.

Amorim has changed formation at United in recent weeks, but he went back to his 3-4-2-1 system at Old Trafford against Wolves. It resulted in a much more stale performance, and supporters quickly grew impatient.

In what was a very frustrating performance, Senne Lammens was United’s best player, which sums up just how poor the outfield players were.

Amorim is missing several creative players, including captain Bruno Fernandes and top scorer this season Bryan Mbeumo.

But the lack of urgency against a Wolves side who are still winless this season was a source of frustration.

In the second half, United legend Gary Neville noticed while on Sky Sports commentary that Old Trafford erupted with chants of “attack, attack, attack”.

“The fans have just been singing ‘attack, attack, attack’.  It’s very hard to change the tone of the game,” Neville said.

“But Man United’s best chance is down this left side with Shaw.”

This is certainly not the first time in the post-Sir Alex Ferguson era that fans have felt a need to push United forward to attack.

In fact, it was a regular occurrence at Old Trafford during Louis van Gaal’s tenure, with supporters often labelling the Dutch manager’s approach as boring.

United fans also aimed a similar chant at Erik ten Hag and Jose Mourinho’s sides during their time as manager.

Now, it is Amorim who is being urged to be more attacking by United fans.
