Manchester Untied fought and scrapped to a 4-2 win over Leeds in wet and treacherous conditions.
And despite the need to dig in and battle, one of the most skilful players on the pitch stood out for all the right reasons.
Summer signing Jadon Sancho had one of his best games for United in the victory, and was picked out by Gary Neville as his man of the match.
Neville told Sky Sports: “I’m going to go for Sancho. Two assists, quality [showed] in the end. His chipped pass in first half and reverse pass to Fred.”
Key man
Sancho created United’s second and third goals, setting up strikes for Bruno Fernandes and Fred. He almost had another too, with an outstanding solo run resulting in a missed chance by Anthony Elanga.
Elanga went on to score United’s fourth to round off an entertaining win, in which United had surrendered a 2-0 lead as Leeds tied 2-2, before United went on to win 4-2.
Harry Maguire began the scoring with a header, netting United’s first corner since last April, with Luke Shaw providing the assist.
Sancho played all 90 minutes and stood out for all the right reasons, creating more chances (3) than any other player.
The winger has been hitting form of late, and while resting him with a view on Atletico may have been a possibility, Ralf Rangnick will be glad he didn’t.
This was a vintage performance from Sancho, who is still only 21-years-old. On a day where United had to dig in and show their mettle, the former Dortmund winger showed he is a perfect fit for the Premier League.
