Gary Neville has pulled no punches towards Casemiro over his performance against Wolves and urged Manchester United to sign an important midfielder this summer.
Former Real Madrid star Casemiro was widely lauded for his performances in the 2022-23 campaign after his stunning £70m move to Old Trafford last summer.
However, the 31-year-old Brazilian midfielder looked far from his best in United’s hard-fought 1-0 victory over Wolves on Monday evening.
Casemiro’s former Madrid teammate Raphael Varane ensured United clinched all three points in their opening Premier League match of the season.

Gary Neville wants United to sign Sofyan Amrabat
Following United’s win, Neville insisted that Casemiro was “absolutely torn to shreds tonight” and the Red Devils’ midfield was “non-existent.”
United have been heavily linked with Sofyan Amrabat this summer and it appears Erik ten Hag is keen to lure the Fiorentina midfielder to Old Trafford before the window shuts.
Speaking on Sky Sports (via the Metro), Neville said: “They are trying to sign, or were trying to sign, Sofyan Amrabat we believe, to go in there alongside Casemiro.

“I don’t know [who Erik ten Hag would drop] but they want to buy Sofyan Amrabat for a reason.
“One thing that Erik ten Hag is not going to do is go back to the likes of Fred and Scott McTominay, who he believes are technically not good enough on the ball.
“He wants everybody in the team to be able to accept the football and receive it. Sofyan Amrabat coming in, he is a passer of the ball and can sit in there alongside Casemiro.
“Casemiro got absolutely torn to shreds tonight. Man United’s midfield were non-existent and they were absolutely ripped apart.
“Wolves were absolutely fantastic. Manchester United’s midfield was non-existent, it emptied. That would have been a real worry for Erik ten Hag.
“Wolves were brilliant tonight, they had everything but a goal. Manchester United were outplayed and can feel very fortunate to come away with three points because they didn’t deserve it.”
Jamie Carragher also questions Casemiro
Jamie Carragher, much like fellow Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville, highlighted his concerns with Casemiro after the United star’s poor performance against Wolves.
The Liverpool legend believes that Casemiro will be “really exposed” this season, which could raise serious concerns for United manager Ten Hag.
“I have a feeling at some stage, Casemiro is going to get really exposed,” Carragher said.
