Premier League Player of the Year is a hot topic of conversation in the closing weeks of the 2025/26 campaign, with Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes among the top contenders for the award.
It’s further proof that Manchester United turned their season around in January following Michael Carrick’s appointment, that we have a player in contention for the Premier League Player of the Year award.
There have been shouts for Fernandes to win the award since his resurgence under Carrick in the No. 10 role.
With United sitting third and within reach of Champions League qualification, Fernandes’ influence is still felt heavily, as seen in United’s 1-0 win over Chelsea on Saturday.

Gary Neville tips Bruno Fernandes for Premier League Player of the Year award
It’s that time of the year when debate heats up over which player is most deserving of the Premier League Player of the Year award.
United had no nominees last season, after finishing 15th in the Premier League, but they’ve got back on track under Carrick in recent months.
With that, Champions League football is a real possibility, and Fernandes is getting the credit he deserves.
On the recent episode of the Stick To Football podcast, former United captains Gary Neville and Roy Keane shared their verdicts on this season’s award.
Neville argued Fernandes’ case, saying: “I think the players will vote Bernardo [Silva], but I’m going to go Bruno.”
Keane believes it should go to a player who wins the title before naming Man City’s Bernardo Silva as his top candidate.
Jill Scott named West Ham’s Jarrod Bowen as her vote for the award. She later said that Fernandes is her preference over Silva.

Who was the last Man Utd star to win Premier League Player of the Year award?
The last United player to win the Premier League Player of the Year was Wayne Rooney.
Rooney won the award in 2010 as well as the Premier League title.
The former England international scored 26 goals in the league that season, on top of three assists.
It would be a remarkable achievement if Fernandes pulled it off this season, but he deserves it.
