Gary Neville reacted to talkSPORT pundit Gabby Agbonlahor claiming that Manchester United legend Nemanja Vidic is one of the most overrated defenders in Premier League history.

Vidic arrived at Old Trafford in the January window of 2006 after former United boss Sir Alex Ferguson snapped him up for a £7m transfer fee from Spartak Moscow.

The 42-year-old Serbian enjoyed incredible success during his time at United, with Vidic forging a legendary centre-back partnership alongside Rio Ferdinand.

Vidic became club captain under Ferguson and made 300 appearances for the Red Devils before his departure to Serie A side Inter Milan in 2014.

The United legend lifted five Premier League titles, a Champions League and three League Cups during his eight-and-a-half seasons at Old Trafford.

Vidic, who retired in 2016 after his brief spell with Inter, is widely regarded as one of the best defenders in Premier League history.

Agbonlahor drops wild Vidic claim

Speaking on talkSPORT, Aston Villa legend Agbonlahor was asked about the Premier League’s best defender after Tom Huddlestone’s admission over one United legend.

Agbonlahor picked Ferdinand among his best defenders in Premier League history, but the talkSPORT pundit overlooked Vidic in his selection.

TalkSPORT presenter Ally McCoist proceeded to ask Agbonlahor who the most overrated defender would be and the ex-Villa star initially refused to name one.

However, McCoist revealed that Agbonlahor had made the admission off-air before the former England player revealed that he said United legend Vidic.

“I’ve said it before, I didn’t find Vidic hard to play against,” Agbonlahor said.

“Whenever he came tight, I’d spin in behind him. I could hold the ball up against him.

“Other players might say different, but that’s my opinion.”

Neville reacts to Agbonlahor’s Vidic remarks

United fan channel Stretford Paddock posted Agbonlahor’s bold Vidic claim on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, alongside an interesting observation.

Stretford Paddock wrote that Agbonlahor had played against United 22 times across his career and only walked away with a single win against the Red Devils.

“So Gabby Agbonlahor has said Vidic is the most overrated defender in PL history and he didn’t find it hard to play against him,” reads the tweet.

“Just a reminder that [Agbonlahor] played [against Man United] 22 times in his career and won once, couldn’t have been that easy then…”

Neville, who has previously had a heated rivalry with Agbnolahor, reacted to the Stretford Paddock post by sharing it with his followers on X.
