Gabby Agbonlahor grades Andre Onana’s start at Manchester United

Gabby Agbonlahor has given his thoughts on Andre Onana’s start to life at Manchester United and has graded his start at Old Trafford.

After joining Manchester United for £43 million in July, Andre Onana was seen as the man to revolutionise the Red Devils in possession but has, as yet, not shown that.

Instead, the goalkeeper has looked rather nervous and timid at times and the mistakes he has made have meant he has looked less and less confident in games this season for the Red Devils.

Speaking on talkSPORT, the former Aston Villa striker Gabby Agbonlahor has given a rather generous grade for the former Ajax goalkeeper.

Agbonlahor on Onana

As mentioned, the pundit gave Onana a rather harsh grade of a D after a poor start to life in Manchester.

“Onana, I would give him a D grade,” Agbonlahor said. “He’s too casual on the ball, too laid back and not saving shots that he really should be saving.

“But, I do think he will come good at Manchester United.”

It’s hard to disagree with the assessment made by Agbonlahor. Onana has not had the best start to life at Old Trafford and you wonder if he can arrest his poor form and stop the rot.

Bayindir waiting in the wings

There is an argument to be made that Altay Bayindir, who joined the club this summer from Turkish side Fenerbahce, should be given his chance against Sheffield United at Bramall Lane.

The Turkish goalkeeper has yet to make his debut for the Red Devils and what better time to make your debut against a side who have still yet to pick up a win in the Premier League?

However, the danger will be against a hostile atmosphere under the lights, and the home side may well put more pressure on the relatively inexperienced goalkeeper.

Onana should remain between the sticks for now but, if he carries on making routine errors and costing United games, then Bayindir should be brought in.
