Fred gives his verdict on his nickname gifted to him by Manchester United fans – ‘Pastor Fred’.
Fred evidently loves Manchester United. The Brazilian midfielder always appears to have a smile on his face and whenever he’s on the pitch, he gives 110%.
Although he hasn’t featured much as of late, Fred is a bit of an unsung hero. He does a lot off the dirty work for United and the structural integrity of the side always looks better with him there.
This is why he’s developed the fan-given nickname of ‘Pastor Fred’. This is for his positive outlook in games and continued faith even after defeats.

Fred gives his say on his nickname
Speaking to the UTD Podcast, Fred gave his verdict on what he thinks of his nickname.
“I love the nickname ‘Pastor Fred’ because my social media is always, I always post something of the God, something blessed,” the Brazilian told United’s media team.
“I am blessed, and people [give me] this nickname and I love it.”
He then went on to explain how happy he is at Manchester United and how connected he feels to the fans.
“This connection is good with our fans. So, it’s important, and every time you see me smiling with the fans, with everyone, it’s so good.
“We are blessed to be here. I have a good job, [playing for] the best team in the world. I have a beautiful family, so I’m so blessed and I’m happy.”
What a man. Fred epitomizes the spirit that all footballers should have. It’s a privilege to be in the position they find themselves. All the fans ask for is some love in return, which Fred provides in abundance.
Never change, Fred.
