Manchester United are unlikely to benefit from a sell-on clause for Andreas Pereira this summer.

Manchester United negotiated a 20 per cent sell-on clause as part of the £10 million deal to sell Andreas Pereira to Fulham.

Pereira has had a strong season for Fulham, scoring five goals and providing six assists in all competitions.

A surprise report from ESPN in March claimed both Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea are both interested, speculating he could fetch a £35 million fee – bringing a potential £7 million bonus to Manchester United.

Andreas Pereira injury

Andreas Pereira suffered an injury in Fulham’s 2-1 loss at home to Manchester City at the weekend.

Fulham’s official website has now revealed he suffered a fractured ankle and his season is over.

He was set to undergo surgery yesterday and a return date has simply been set for ‘later this year’, per the club’s statement.

The injury is likely to rule out a move for Andreas in the upcoming window, and for now, deny United the sell-on clause.

The injury also means Pereira will not be able to feature at Old Trafford in Fulham’s upcoming visit in the Premier League later in May.

Saying put at Fulham might not be a bad thing where Pereira is concerned. He has been shunted around on loan by Manchester United for the past two seasons, in Italy and Brazil, and at Fulham, he has found a club where he is playing regularly in an important role.

Taking a leap to a PSG or a Chelsea might not actually have been the wisest career move for him. Another season at Fulham, where he appears to be happy and enjoying his football, could be just what he needs.

We wish him the best in his recovery, and that he can quickly get back to his best.
