Four Manchester United players have been nominated for the FIFA team of the season shortlist.

A total of 40 Premier League players have been shortlisted, with fans asked to vote for their top 11.

Lisandro Martinez, Luke Shaw, Casemiro and Marcus Rashford were the Manchester United nominees.

The inclusion of the quartet demonstrates the consistent performances Manchester United’s players have delivered this season.

Bruno Fernandes unfairly snubbed

Martinez, Shaw, Casemiro and Rashford fully deserve their nominations. But there is one major gripe with the shortlist – the omission of Bruno Fernandes.

Fernandes is Manchester United’s assist leader for the season. FBRef numbers show Fernandes has created 88 chances for the season.

This figure is the same number as Kevin de Bruyne – who has been nominated, and no player has made more key passes than Fernandes.

The snub is even more bizarre considering Chelsea’s Kai Havertz is on the 40-man shortlist along with Tottenham’s Rodrigo Bentancur.

Fernandes has objectively been one of the Premier League’s best and most consistent players this season, with 10 goals in all competitions to his name too.

Of the quartet who are nominated, Marcus Rashford has the very best chance of making the final 11.

He has scored 28 goals in all competitions, leading Manchester United as top scorer. The Red Devils soon hope to get him back from injury, to continue adding to his goal tally.
