Former United winger now looks set to join Saudi giants

Jesse Lingard has been without a club since Nottingham Forest released him in July, but now seems set to join his new club.

Manchester United academy graduate Jesse Lingard was something of a cult hero during his time at Old Trafford.

However upon Erik ten Hag‘s arrival he wasn’t offered a new contract to stay at his boyhood club.

Due to this, Nottingham Forest then snapped him up on a free, but he failed to have an impact at the City Ground so they released him too.

But after a summer of training with West Ham, it appears the Saudi Pro League awaits Lingard.

Lingard training with Al Ettifaq

After months of no club, now Lingard has been in training with Saudi Arabian giants Al Ettifaq.

This is according to Fabrizio Romano on X, who wrote: “Jesse Lingard has started training with Saudi side Al Ettifaq – with Steven Gerrard as coach”.

This move would see him join the English contingent in Saudi with Jordan Henderson set to be among his peers if a deal is made official.

Steven Gerrard will be the new manager for Lingard to impress as he presumably will be picking up a hefty payday.

Snubs West Ham – Again

Lingard enjoyed his best ever form while on loan with West Ham a few years back, and a move back to the London Stadium looked to be on the cards again.

However, after the Hammers allowed Lingard to train with them and build match fitness, he has opted for a move elsewhere.

While it is understandable due to the players age and the massive money difference he will be getting.

It is unclear if West Ham was an option, but if they were, snubbing them seems harsh from Lingard.

But we wish him all the best over in Saudi Arabia.
