Former Man Utd youth striker, and Man City legend, Shaun Goater, says he believes City will not only win the Manchester derby on Sunday, they’ll also win the league title.
Goater came through the ranks at Old Trafford before a spell at City in the late 90’s as they battled their way back up to the top league after relegations. He became a real fan favourite at Maine Road and has maintained his loyalties by saying he thinks Pep Guardiola’s team will win the battle and the war this season.
“They play attractive football and Pep [Guardiola] is trying everything to try to get that win, try and get that defining goal that ensures the win,” Goater told Premier League TV.
He went on to explain why he feels they will win the league, saying he felt the gap is already too big. “Truth be told, I think it is a one-horse race, I really do,” said Goater. “Pep Guardiola will be saying to his players ‘there’s a lot of work to be done’, which is right, the league isn’t won now. But the work you’ve done now allows you to win the league. So they will not pay attention to the media and what people are saying but for me it’s a one-horse race. I think it’s for City to lose, as early as it is.”
